Terms of Service

The deal, in plain English

By creating an account or connecting QuickBooks, you're agreeing to these terms. They're short on purpose — read them.

What Recoup is

Recoup is software that helps you follow up on your own overdue invoices. It reads your QuickBooks data, drafts payment reminders in your voice, sends them from your identity once you approve (or, once the agent has earned it and you turn on autopilot, on its own), tracks replies and promises, and gives your customers a way to pay. The messages are yours: Recoup is a tool you use to collect money owed directly to you — it is not a collection agency, does not buy debt, and does not collect on its own behalf.

Your responsibilities

You confirm that the invoices Recoup chases are real debts owed to your business, and that you have the right to share your customers' contact details with us and to have us contact them on your behalf.

You agree to use Recoup lawfully — including laws that govern how businesses may communicate about money owed (for example, no harassment and no contacting people who have told you to stop). Recoup enforces some of this in the product — no after-hours sends, no threatening language, one-tap pause per customer — but the legal responsibility for messages sent on your behalf is yours.

AI-drafted messages

Recoup uses AI to draft messages and read replies. Drafts can be wrong. By default nothing is sent without your approval. Autopilot is offered only after the agent has matched your voice across repeated approvals; if you turn it on, you're choosing to let Recoup send without per-message review, and you can turn that off at any time. Either way, messages go out under your name and you own them.

Payments

Customer payments run through Stripe, under Stripe's own terms. Recoup never holds your money or your customers' card or bank details. Payment processing fees are shown before you enable payments.

Billing

Recoup's fee is success-based. Your first 15 recovered invoices are free. After that, the fee is 2% of each invoice Recoup recovers, billed monthly and capped at $349 in any month. We bill only on invoices that were already 30 or more days past due when Recoup began following up on them, and only when payment is actually received. On plans that include Negotiator Mode, an invoice collected through a negotiated settlement is billed at 5% of the amount actually collected — never of the amount forgiven — within the same monthly cap. Current pricing, including flat-rate plans we may offer when your volume makes one cheaper, is always at recoup-ai.com/pricing. Your rate can be reduced through the rewards program, never raised above the published rate without notice.

You can cancel anytime — sending stops immediately, no cancellation calls, no retention flows. After cancelling you owe only fees on invoices already recovered.

What we promise — and don't

We work hard to keep Recoup accurate, safe, and available, and the Trust & Security page describes the specific safeguards we've built. But Recoup is provided "as is": we can't guarantee any particular recovery outcome, that every draft will be perfect, or that the service will never have downtime.

To the maximum extent the law allows, our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid Recoup in the twelve months before the claim, and neither of us is liable to the other for indirect or consequential damages. Nothing here limits liability the law doesn't let us limit.

Ending things

You can stop using Recoup at any time: disconnect QuickBooks from your Intuit settings (which revokes our access immediately) and email us to close your account and delete your data. We can suspend or close accounts that use the service unlawfully or to harass people — we'll tell you why if we do.

Changes to these terms

If we make a material change, we'll email you before it takes effect. Continuing to use Recoup after that means you accept the updated terms.
